Chris has helped me to overcome numerous injuries over the years in my knee, foot, and ankle. He takes a holistic approach, encourages gradual increases and small wins, and is attentive to detail. Through Chris's positive encouragement and detailed rehabilitation plans, I found myself stronger at the end of physical therapy, and able to return to sports. Chris stays up to date on the latest research in sports medicine, so I always felt comfortable asking questions and confident in the thoughtful responses he would provide. Chris is truly present with all of his patients and really cares about their success.
I started seeing Chris after my hip labrum surgery, and he knew exactly what to do to get me back to running. He tailored my PT exercises to increase my strength and mobility without causing my hip any pain. Throughout my recovery, he was always very encouraging and motivating. He clearly has his patients’ best interests in mind with every decision he makes. I can’t recommend him enough!
I came to Chris as a seasoned weightlifter with a chronic low back injury and in a fair amount of pain with certain movements. Even getting out of bed in the mornings could prompt painful twinges. Chris’ assessment and consultation of my injury at the beginning was a very important step on my journey to recovery. He was able to look through the pain I was describing and identify why my injury and pain happened in the first place. Chris also recognized my desire to learn why my injury happened, of course how to recover, but also how to prevent it from happening again. As a fellow weightlifter, Chris began to teach me about body movements and how different observations of my posture and movement freedom could tell him where I was weak and unbalanced. I benefited from his knowledge about how and why I needed to combine core strength and single-leg stability movements into my recovery program. Along my journey, Chris introduced me to dry needling as a supplement to my extensive use of other methods. Altogether, I felt that Chris gave me a holistic and strong foundation, not only to recover and heal but also to incorporate into my focus and bodily awareness as I continue my weightlifting journey. I would definitely recommend Chris’ practice.
Chris Ricardo is a phenomenal DPT! I chose him specifically to treat my shoulder. I first encountered Chris 3 years earlier when he treated my daughter for a torn meniscus in her knee. As a medical professional myself, I was impressed with his kindness, patience, and clinical expertise while working with my daughter. He achieved excellent results during her rehab so I knew when I needed physical therapy, he would be instrumental in my healing. He was able to craft and individualize my therapy to fit me, my activity level, and my personality. He is certified in dry needling which I found very helpful and accelerated the healing process. I am typically an active person and not used to chronic injuries or pain and Chris was reassuring in keeping me focused, patient, and consistent with my therapy to achieve the best results. My shoulder is now back to normal and I couldn’t have done it without his excellent care!
Being in the medical field, I have high expectations for my medical care and Chris met all of them. He came highly recommended by my orthopedic surgeon. Working with him was one of the best decisions I made and undoubtedly led to a successful post-op recovery. Although it was a long and tough recovery, Chris always knew when to push me harder or give me words of encouragement. He is extremely knowledgeable in orthopedics and will make sure you’re on the right track physically. Chris really gave me the tools to get back to being active again. I can horseback ride and hike, and I am back to working full-time thanks to his care.
I know Chris as both a physical therapy patient and the parent of a patient, and would strongly recommend him to anyone who needs physical therapy. Chris is extremely knowledgeable but also listens to the patient’s concerns and needs to create an individualized treatment plan that works. He is professional, and organized, and strives to remain on top of current research and information regarding athletic injuries and treatment protocols.
Personally, he not only helped me recover from injury as a runner but also gave me the tools to stay out on the road day in and day out. As a high-level soccer player, my teenage daughter also experienced some very painful injuries (including two ACL tears) that resulted in multiple surgeries and long breaks from competitive soccer. Chris was integral to her recovery and her return to playing the sport that she loves. As a result, she is able to continue her athletic career and has committed to play D1 soccer at the University of Houston.
As an active person with joint and hyper-mobility issues, I often experience pain. Prior to working with Chris, my pain would interfere with being as active as I wanted to be, and physical activity often aggravated the pain. I have been working with Chris intermittently for several years because his treatment helps me maintain my active lifestyle. I no longer have to sacrifice my favorite hobbies and activities. Physical therapy with Chris has had a huge positive impact on my quality of life.
I was connected with Chris through a trusted friend who had worked with Chris and described him as “knowledgeable, easy to connect with, and someone that can motivate you to be your best”. He was correct. Chris did an incredible job of pushing me to be successful in my recovery while ensuring I did not do too much too quickly, potentially causing a setback. The physical therapy with Chris was wildly successful, allowing me to get back to my normal life way ahead of schedule.
